I too was guilty of viewing sticks and stones as weapons because of the ways children tend to use them. This class gave me some new insights into meaningful outdoor learning. I am more inspired to introduce my class to this curriculum on-the-go kit. We shared a garden for the whole school, however, when we go back to school. I am going to share my ideas with other colleagues. We already have a chalkboard outside and the children really enjoy writing and drawing on the board. The idea of taking books outdoors in a more intentional way adds a new way to learn in an exciting way. I previously took books outside to read to the children but the purpose was just for a change of scenery, allowing the students to be outdoors. I gained ideas on how to add literacy to outdoor space.
painting rocks, making bird scarecrow and using kitchen tools for gardening are fun!
I’ll be adding many of these aspects to my outdoor learning space. I’m hoping to create some cozy spots to allow the children to explore in their own spaces. All of your ideas are wonderful. Get the children to reconnect to nature.
Yea!!
I love all of the great and helpful ideas that you have offered and I can’t wait to use them in my class.
Terrific!
I love all the great ideas. It’s so important for the kids to connected with nature. They get inspired and more creative too.
Thrilled you are here.
