I am sorry we could not join to the first call. As I listen to it there are many great ideas and good to hear all about the member’s experience. Yes, I think heading outside at winter the most important part to have a right gear to keep us warm. We had a problem with a dressing up part when I was working with 3 and 4 years old children so we made a poster with the kids where we put in line how to dress up. 1. Pullover, 2. Snow pants, 3 boots, 4 jacket 5 hat, 6 scarf 7 mittens. It was hanged up at the cubvy area so the kids could use it as a reference.
I LOVE THIS IDEA! I often hear teachers complaining about how hard it is to get the littles outside due to the logistics of getting their clothes on. One teacher used circle time to practice. It’s a new skill and to have a reference guide for them to look at is brilliant.
Yes, the poster was so helpful for us as well with the five-year-olds! We had it on the door leading outside to the playground, it was fun to watch them as they checked each other before going out. 🙂
Oh my goodness…I would love to be a fly on the wall when the children are checking themselves out.
With the first gathering I felt we had a thoughtful and interesting group who seem motivated to explore our topic. It was apparent we all have the interest but need more ideas and solutions for overcoming obstacles to exploring nature in our spaces. I was stumped when Victoria talked about fostering wonder and realized I needed to spend time figuring this out. So I am trying to see what the children are interested in and talking about and hoping that will guide me. I could also use a gathering space since all of our tree stumps that we used previously have broken down.
A wonderful and thoughtful reflection. I couldn’t describe this group better. Thank you. Love that you are exploring Wonder more deeply. 🙂
Three things I took away from this virtual class are having a collection of spare mittens and children can change them out when we are outside, having bird feeders around – not in the play area but you can see from the play area and windows, and observe what the children are naturally learning and expand on what they are excited about. I loved that I was able to take away ideas from the other educators and implement them in my classroom. The variety of ages of children and the differences in the weather was fun to hear about. It was nice to watch and review the class.
Wonderful. One of my favorite parts of the Master Class is the live workshops. Glad you are getting good ideas! 🙂
This was a great way to connect with other outdoor educators and it got us thinking about why we do what we do! Loved sharing and reflecting on outdoor memories! Looking forward to continued sharing!
Terrific! One more to go! 🙂
This was such a great opportunity to connect and reflect with others. I loved the opportunity to collaborate and think about our own early memories of being outdoors in winter. It was so helpful to hear from others about similar challenges and joys of being outdoors with children in Winter. I especially related to the idea of needing to get out of a personal rut with being outdoors and how that has changed/shifted for me as I’ve grown and had children of my own. It was so nice to “meet” some of the other members of the class and I look forward to seeing and hearing more of everyone’s experience as we continue.
I loved this conversation too! I think we all get in some sort of run in the Winter. It’s so nice to be reminded of our memories and sharing them with our children. Thank you for being here.
