Thank you Victoria, for giving us the opportunity to learn from you!
My goal is to be able to inspire my class room children, to love respect and appreciate our NATURE, and learn outdoor activities using our imagination.

My goals are to find ways to bring more of our classroom outside, for longer periods of time. We already do a lot of snacks outside as well as getting out in the mornings and afternoons, but I would like to make it more intentional while still giving the children freedom to explore as they want. Turning over rocks and tree slices to see what is underneath is one of our favorite things to do outside, and I want to find more things like this that we can do on our playground as well as find places outside of the playground that we can safely explore.

My goals for this class will be to understand how to use a very limited and unnatural outdoor play area and make it better for the students. Our playground has no grass or ability to plant and does not really have a lot of natural space.

I do believe that children have a growing disconnect with our earth. I feel we need to make a huge effort to re-engage our kids with the outside world; in the words of of Richard Louv, they are suffering from “nature deficit disorder”. My hope is to connect the children in my care to nature through all areas of the curriculum and learn the tools to help them appreciate and grow curious about their world.

My goal/intention is to learn from a new perspective. My co teacher and I have been working together for two years now and we both immensely enjoy issuing nature and the outdoors in our curriculum. I am excited to see other tools, tips, and tricks that we have yet to discover.

I am looking for new ideas to implement and to enhance out door experiences for the children and families I work with. I am interested in ideas for toddler and preschool age children.
as a center we are nature based and children are given a lot of opportunities to explore outside on the playground and on our walks around the campus. There is always room for growth and new ideas!

My goal is to learn more about myself as a teacher and nature, as a way to develop a curriculum in which my philosophy as a teacher is constant and present (emotional and nature centered). By taking this course, I hope to learn more about gardening and being able to bring these tools to my children.

Hi my name is Kayleigh. My goal for this class is to learn how to truly bring my teaching outdoors with some new knowledge and ideas! I really struggle with bringing the classroom outdoors as I have a classroom with 10 students all just turning 3 years old…it can be pretty crazy. We are lucky if we can get an activity done in the classroom…my students really enjoy going out for walks so I am hoping that throughout this class I can learn how to bring more teaching knowledge outside!

      Hello,
My goals are to find ways to include parents and families in our nature based curriculum, with things such as take home activities or plans and/or volunteering at our school to get the parents more involved in being outdoors with their children. I would like to create nature based activities that include all of the children’s senses, including texture, smells, sounds, close observations, and even taste. I would also like more ideas for bringing nature and science into the toddler classroom.
One small challenge that I have is that my classroom is closed during the summertime and I am not at work for three months during the summer, so my curriculum would need to be based around the Fall, Winter, and Springtime. Also another challenge I face is that my classroom is mainly international children who do not speak English at all when they first start and they have never before been left by their parents, so they cry a lot and do not understand what I am saying to them for the first couple of months, starting in late August. I have had up to eleven languages spoken in my classroom at one time and I am not bilingual myself.

I am Talia Salom and I live in Chestnut Hill MA. My students are preschool and their ages are between 3 and 4 years old. My expectation in this class is to learn how to develop a bio garden but also to create meaningful strategies that awaken that desire to learn about the world around them and their participation in it.
My challenge is create an organic space, a free place where they can interact freely but also maintain it during the rest of the year. That it is not only for the subject or curriculum.
I do not have much experience in gardens, I have always lived in cities. Something that caught my attention when I came to live to United States are those open spaces in the parks where people can have their own garden in the middle of the concrete jungle.

      Hi All,
I work with children from ages infant – 5/6 years old. My goal for this class is to take meaningful outdoor lessons and implement them into my classroom. I want to be more purposeful with the outdoor learning activities.
What I am challenged with in teaching children is the amount of screen time they are exposed to. Many children now relate to what they have seen on a television show or online game instead of an experience they had themselves. I want to get these students off the screens and bring awareness to the outdoor world around them. I think teaching them to about nature would be meaningful and exciting.
