I have already put the Great Backyard Bird Count on my calendar! I can’t wait! I also look forward to making bird feeders with pine cones and sun butter! And, I am very interested in teaching the children different bird songs so that we can add that dimension to our bird walks. Thank you!

I was really inspired by this workshop and have already downloaded a bird identification app for Australian birds.
I have also put out the call on Storypark for children to each bring in a feather or two that they find around their home.
I love the idea of making a human bird nest!

Let us know what you find and share on the outdoor classroom’s Facebook page. (or here) It would be fun to see the difference between birds in different parts of the world.

Victoria-I truly enjoyed this workshop! I love birds. One thought I had after recently being at the beach, was to tell children to watch for different birds when they visit different places. Huge Seagulls, Cranes, and other water birds were much different than the birds near my home. Also, I love to hear birds singing. Sharing that hearing the birds sing makes me happy would be a good introduction to more musical activities and even emotional issues. Talking with children about appreciating these beautiful creatures and the sweet sounds they make for us would also be a good topic for discussion. Thank you! Sincerely, Lynn Carr
