I love the ideas for putting a music wall outside. This is something I think they could enjoy know matter the season. I’m always looking for ideas to expand our outdoor play, not only in the warmer months but for winter time too and I think this could be a year round addition to our space.

From all the ideas within the modules doing a music wall seems to be realistic from the coming summer season and reopening.
While watching the videos I was most drawn to the Musical garden built for Wroxham School. I found myself wanting to be right there with them exploring and the video showed the joy of the children
In the videos I saw endless shapes, patterns, materials and color that created the music garden.

I am definitely doing a Music wall. I love the idea of using old windchimes pots and pans that you’re not using anymore.i think that’s going to be great and every child loves music. I have done with the large containers that I got donated from Home Depot and turn them into drum sets. I let the kids decorate them and create their own drum set and then we use the paint stirrers that you get from Home Depot as well. Rock and Roll

We just got a new playground late last summer/Early Fall and actually have a set of drums and a xylophone setup on it as part of the playground. I will put the picture in the Facebook group but I really love the idea of the chimes and I am going to try to figure out a way of doing chimes somewhere for the children to be able to play with but it might take a bit to figure out.

Our school currently has a couple music stations. But the idea of hand made items and the drumming station would make such a cool addition!

I also meant to write about the chimes made from nature items. There is a book not in print anymore, but libraries have it, called The Dream House. The chimes reminded me of that book. One year, after reading it to my class, we created homemade chimes from nature and repurposed items to hang from a big tree in our school yard.

Ahhh…thanks for pulling this idea out. It might be the perfect time to dive into a chime making project.

I love this idea and my school has a music wall, outdoor giant marimba and thunder drum. I really liked how the Wroxham School used recycled items and art to make their music garden really special. Of course, older children can create their own rhythms and patterns on the instruments and make it flow nicely together.

We have a newly added music wall to our outside playground. so far the kids just love it. They love to see what pots and pans make different sounds depending on where they hit them and with what instrument (wooden or metal spoons). In the spring we plan to make a windchime with loose parts.

We have a music wall in place at our school and we are always looking to add and also fix sometimes the items that get a lot of use! I love the wind-chime idea to add a few summers ago we did make some with shells on sticks which we added to the large planter beds which the kids did enjoy, but I think its time to make new ones! thanks for the inspiration!

I just love the idea of a musical garden! I’m thinking it would be really neat to have wind chimes outside our windows in my classroom. There is a small green space right outside that would be perfect for this! That way, if I opened the windows a bit, the students could hear the sounds of their chimes! I found a link for some homemade wind chimes that would be perfect! I could have my students work in small groups to create these chimes. We could set up 4 or 5 outside our window for some chime sounds during quiet work times. These could also be interactive for any students, teachers or families walking by.

Here is the link that I found!

I love the idea about hanging the chimes intentionally so you can enjoy them while indoors too. Terrific! It is exactly what we are aiming for…thinking about how we can integrate learning both inside and out. So much fun watching your ideas bloom!

My children love our 10 gallon pails for drumming. I hope to add a music garden to our new center.
