Hi, I’m Pat.
Right at the moment I’m taking some time off teaching because I burned out after 33 years. I love teaching about Jesus and His creation, especially about monarch caterpillars, butterflies, frogs, toads, seeds, gardening. I am thinking about opening up a nature school but haven’t decided on what ages. The older children need the outdoors too. I am looking forward to expanding my brain with this awesome sounding class.
Welcome Pat! Wonderful to have you and looking forward to learning about your vision for a Nature School! If you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to ask.
I cannot keep anything alive, but the idea of an outdoor classroom sounds like Nirvana! I cannot wait to learn and also trial and error with the kids in my preschool. We want to work on a project for Mothers and Fathers days and to ‘greenify’ our city playground. I am already grateful for this course.
Yea! Love to hear trial and error….that is what it is about. I hope you find many ideas in this course.

Hi, I’m Lyn. Not on FB so my comments will have to be here. Looking for ideas for making a local farm more user-friendly. I teach college writing, finishing a phd in teacher-education, working weekends at a local farm (I do their FB page so I might be able to use that, we’ll see), was elementary teacher, just 100% the idea of outdoor literacy. I am also into supporting small and medium sized farms!!
Welcome Lyn! Thrilled that you are here joining us. What a dynamo! Looks like you have done a lot and can bring a wealth of knowledge to the table. Making farms more user-friendly is brilliant!
I’m Jamie. I am a preschool teacher at a head start program in Massachusetts. I have 18 3-5 year olds. I also run a Girl Scout Troop with 10 7-8 year old girls. Always looking for new ideas for both age groups. We did get to play in some mud at Head Start today! It rained a lot over the weekend so we had a lot of mud on the playgrounds. We used sticks to draw letters and numbers in the mud.
Welcome Jamie! Thrilled you are here and can’t wait to learn more about how you incorporate all the literacy outdoors ideas with both your young and older age groups. Should be fun!
