Are you an Infant/Toddler teacher looking for inspiration about how to bring your babies outdoors. Are you always worried about safety and what to do once you get outdoors? Our Exploring the Natural World with Infants and Toddlers is a favorite on-site workshop that is jam-packed with ideas. Another great option is to start reading nature-based books outdoors. Here are a few of my favorites for the Winter.

  1.
Simple and evocative language and charming illustrations describe a girl’s experience on a rainy day.
On a rainy day, a young girl makes a paper boat, splashes in puddles, make mud pies, and has other springtime fun! Elizabeth Spurr and Manelle Oliphant together create a perfect sit-in-your-lap reading experience for toddlers. Learn more HERE.

Introduce your baby or toddler to arctic animals including polar bears, whales, caribou, walruses, seals, and more in this adorable lift-a-flap board book. Simple sentences reinforce future language structure while grasping and lifting the sturdy flaps helps develop fine motor skills. A perfect first book! Learn more HERE.

Full of fun pictures which celebrate the arrival of the magical winter season, this is an engaging book to share with babies and toddlers. There are pictures of a jolly snowman, sparkling snowflake, a winter forest and more to look at, and the pages have different touch-and-feel textures, which little fingers will love to explore. Now I want to hear from you. How do you connect your infants and toddlers to Nature? What are your favorite outdoor activities and nature-based children’s books? Please share in the comments below.
