A Walk in the Woods on MLK Day!

A Lesson On Noticing

Martin Luther King day has come and gone. Yet, the memories linger of my MLK day walk in the woods with my beloved dog, Ollie.  How fortunate we are to have this freedom! The woods are the perfect place to get away, clear our heads and practice mindfulness.

How often do you walk in the woods? What do you notice? Do your senses open up or are you lost in your head? Adam Frank reminds us that we need to “refine out capacity to notice.” A great lesson on NPR’s “All Things Considered”. NPR: Noticing: How To Take A Walk In The Woods

On this particular walk I noticed the essence of the trails and how each path I walked was so vastly different. I wondered, questioned and became mindful. I noted how different this walk is during the winter months. What do you notice when on a walk in the woods? Share a comment below.
